Sometimes, when you’re on the go, you just have a few fine-tip markers or even a single pen with you. What can you do then? Adding texture, such as crosshatching, inside the designs can be a fun alternative to coloring. And again, the same way you can add three-dimensionality with a darker shadow with colored pencils, you can do something similar in pattern form with an ink pen. You can get a lot of con- trol with how you color that way.
You can also do things like color in with a whole bunch of different patterns—why not? You can do little plus signs, little dots, little triangles within triangles, stripes, even make a blue tree! Doesn’t really matter. Whatever you want to do is available to you, whether you’re using pens and pencils, markers, colored pencils, or even a ballpoint pen if you’re out and about. So don’t forget to have fun with your col- oring!
